Patience Pays (with a little bit of help from Stretch Pose)

Updated: May 2, 2018

Can you believe it?

No sooner do I create a blog, share some tips on staying calm, being patient, building nerves of steel to cope with the challenges of life, such as Corsican planners who test your patience to absolute limits, then an email is received announcing the granting of planning permission!

On Top of the Corsican World!

It's as if they had read the first blog post and couldn't possibly have their reputation tarnished with being ponderous and slow....

This is wonderful news. Our Corsican #yoga retreat centre nestled in the hillside, adjacent to the cutest mountain village, just a twenty minute drive to magnificent beaches and the healing #Mediterranean sea, can now begin the process of creation.

This exciting development doesn't mean the "special pain" of Stretch Pose with Breath of Fire can now be abandoned with a massive sigh of relief! On the contrary, now is the time to step it up and ensure it features prominently in daily practice. You see, I have been here before. I have already experienced the traumatic process of creating a villa in #Corsica. And it was painful, although it was pre-Kundalini Yoga, before I had been given these wonderful yoga tools and technology. So, this time around I am confident. I am ready. My kriya, #meditation and #mantra carefully selected...

How to do Stretch Pose

Lie on your back, legs straight, toes pointed, bring your heels together and lift your head and heels about 16cm off the ground.

Stretch Pose

Press your lower back into the ground. Keep your eyes open and focus on your big toes. Arms are by your sides, palms facing your thighs but not touching, or sometimes I like to have my palms facing up, as if asking to receive (receive some extra strength to keep me going with this!)

I also find I can keep going for longer if I close my eyes, while mentally directing my internal gaze towards the end of my toes.

Hold the position for 1 minute (aim to eventually hold for 3 minutes, no more) with Breath of Fire. If your body shakes, that's ok. It suggests the nervous system is adjusting. If you can't keep Stretch Pose for the full minute, do it in segments, even if it's just 10 seconds at a time. You will be amazed at how much stronger you get with practice. Just keep trying because this pose makes changes in your life:

1. It adjusts your navel point. Your navel is the focal point for all 72,000 nerves in the body so Stretch pose is a tune-up for your whole nervous system, as well as your digestive system.

2. It also strengthens your reproductive organs and glands (the seat of your creativity and productivity) If you have projects, want to be confident, invincible, ready for anything, then practice #StretchPose!
